"To evangelize is to present Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, that men shall come to put their trust in God, to accept him as their Saviour and serve him as their King in the fellowship of his church".
THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH
The key to reaching the world with the gospel is not more schools, programs, or sermons but more evangelical workers who are filled with the Holy Spirit and following Christ. There are men, women, boys and girls who are in need to readily receive Christ in their lives. However, because of the tragic inability of modern Christians to meet the needs of God's people and point them to Christ, the work of God suffers. The basic problem is the lack of men and women having the vision, training and initiatives to mentor new converts and led them into fruitful lives. The need to show genuine love and compassion is a needed ingredient missing from our ministries today. Jesus is our perfect example; He demonstrated His love by ministering to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals throughout the New Testament. After ministering to the people on the mount, He took bread and fish and fed them, because they hungered.
WINNING A FRIEND The Bible declares he that winneth a friend must first show himself friendly. Evangelism entails befriending others to assist them to mature into a relationship with God. If you remember when you were a child someone may have rebuffed your attempt at friendship. Did you stop trying making friends for the rest of your life? I hope for most of us, the answer to that is a resounding "No!" Yet when we evangelize and do not see immediate results we stop; we become apprehensive and fearful of the unknown. The more you practice evangelism, the better you get, don't give up because you were once rejected. Jesus Christ never gave up on us; we should do likewise and be committed to fulfilling the great commission to win souls for the Kingdom of God. Evangelism is a corporate mission in which individuals are invited into a community. Many teachers of evangelism teach narrowly defined techniques, or set of steps. Most of these techniques and set of steps are in fact successful for particular groups of people. However, the way people reach out to others is as different and unique as each individual.
